T-bone and Our Clients Join Together to Help The Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal
People around the world felt the grief and horror of the Victorian Bushfires last month. The physical damage was enormous but the emotional toll it has taken on the communities affected by the disaster may never go away.
The staff at T-bone wanted to do their bit in assisting The Salvation Army relief effort. The Salvos have been on location in Victoria since the initial response, with their emergency services teams assisting not only the victims, but also the exhausted emergency services crews.
T-Bone has had a long affiliation with The Salvos and we gathered forces with our neighbours, The Cargo Lounge to put on an entertainment extravaganza to raise money for them!
Our host, Miss World Australia 2007, Caroline Pemberton, was joined on stage by Australian country music queen Melinda Schneider, Global Battle of the Bands winners Inakin and comedian Gary Bradbury (among others). All of our performers donated their time to entertain a gathering of Sydneysiders wanting to do their bit for the cause.
New 'Australian Made' Google Algorithm - Making Searching Easier
UNSW PhD student Ori Allon has made Australian history by having the search engine process he developed at the University put in place on Google last month. It was purchased for an undisclosed amount by the search engine giant three years ago.
Ori has since been shipped off to Google Headquarters in Mountain View, California as a senior engineer with their search quality team.
This new algorithm is set to make life a whole lot easier for both 'seekers' and businesses. It will reward businesses with comprehensive content on their website and will produce better results for complicated searches. This isn't to say that it won't work on simple queries as well, but it is a more 'all round' solution to Google's aim to maintain their position as the leading search engine.
Ori Allon said in an interview earlier this month, "We try to understand what's the meaning of the query, the context of the query. We can do a better job of generating refinements that let users hopefully get to results they want."
