"Overall the team has a can-do attitude that delivers both on the initial brief and beyond"
- Jason Piggot, Marketing Manager

Oporto started its first restaurant back in 1986 in Bondi Beach, Sydney. Since then they have rapidly expanded to over 120 stores across Australia and overseas.
Oporto commissioned T-bone to redevelop their corporate website and franchisee extranet in early 2009.

Overview

T-bone was engaged to create a public facing website solution that would reflect the Oporto brand refresh and actively promote this rapidly growing name to its target audience. As a highly recognised fast food brand in a dynamic marketplace, Oporto required their website and extranet to provide a platform to deploy their wider digital strategy.

A Scalable Solution Focused on Usability

The redesign of the Oporto consumer website focused specifically on customer needs. Our research indicated that the existing website was being used primarily for finding stores and applying for jobs. As such we designed user friendly functionality to assist the consumer to achieve these goals.
That said, the website is just the beginning. Oporto is planning a range of digital marketing initiatives that will strengthen customer engagement with the brand. Our strategy involved designing the website as a flexible and scalable platform from which to launch these ongoing campaigns. In the not-to-distant future, expect to see Oporto engaged via social networks and promoting themselves through branded online content.

The end-result was a flexible design that provided the product and marketing teams an intuitive platform for delivering product information, marketing material and customer support.

"Providing an excellent experience for both 'browsers' and 'searchers' was a key consideration throughout the design process."

Oporto Extranet

The Oporto Extranet serves as a central point for the storage and management of a variety of business critical information including store details and records, marketing assets, supplier records, franchisee information and human resource and recruitment information. Controlled access is required for a variety of users, including:

  • Store Managers;
  • Franchisees;
  • Agencies;
  • Oporto head office users, and;
  • Oporto Management.

To develop and implement a successful system, it was necessary for T-bone to thoroughly analyse and document a variety of internal and external Oporto business processes. The extranet was then carefully scoped, designed and developed to support and report on these processes.

The end result is a flexible, scalable platform that is designed to support Oporto's planned overseas expansion.
